The core loop is buildable, but a dependable replacement becomes a real weekend or multi-day project. For Planable, collaboratively draft and approve social posts before manual or API publishing. The hard boundary is high-fidelity previews, approvals, comments, multiple workspaces, and client workflow, plus api access, connector upkeep, and collaboration.

# Planable indie build

## Goal

Build the smallest trustworthy replacement for the core Planable workflow for one developer or a tiny team.

## Scope

Draft social posts collaboratively, preview them accurately, approve them before publishing manually or through one official API, and retain a searchable content calendar.

## Quick start

1. Install the documented dependencies.
2. Copy `.env.example` to `.env`.
3. Run the development command chosen during implementation.
4. Complete the acceptance checks in `BUILD_PLAN.md`.

## Honest limits

This build deliberately does not replace:
- high-fidelity previews, approvals, comments, multiple workspaces, and client workflow
- many maintained network APIs
- inbox and moderation
- deep analytics
- team approvals and asset libraries

If those capabilities are essential, use Postiz instead of pretending the gap is solved.

why people still pay

People still pay for Planable because the scheduler is easy; staying approved and correct across constantly changing social APIs is the subscription. The recurring cost buys OAuth review, API policy changes, media limits, queues, retries, rate limits, webhooks, tokens, and moderation workflows, not just the visible interface.

questions
Vibecode Planable

Kinda. The core of Planable is buildable in a weekend with the prompt on this page, but there are real gaps: high-fidelity previews, approvals, comments, multiple workspaces, and client workflow, many maintained network APIs. Read the honest list above before committing.

How much does Planable cost?

Planable costs about $39/month (Basic, checked 2026-07-31), which is $468 per year.

What do I lose by replacing Planable?

Honestly: high-fidelity previews, approvals, comments, multiple workspaces, and client workflow; many maintained network APIs; inbox and moderation; deep analytics; team approvals and asset libraries. If any of those are load-bearing for you, keep paying.

Is there an open-source alternative to Planable?

Yes: Postiz (Team drafts, comments and publishing in one place; approval workflow is serviceable rather than ceremonial.) BrightBean Studio (Draft, comment, approve and publish from shared workspaces; the free hosted plan does not meter collaborators.) TryPost (Roles, comments, approvals and a visual calendar; the software is free, the server is yours.) All 3 curated free alternatives are at vibecodeit.com/planable/alternatives.
