The visible whiteboarding loop is buildable, but a credible replacement needs more than the first screen. Lucidspark earns its keep through interaction polish, collaboration, so expect a weekend or multi-day build and a narrower personal scope.

# Lucidspark indie build

## Goal

Build the smallest trustworthy replacement for the core Lucidspark workflow for one developer or a tiny team.

## Scope

Build a browser-based whiteboarding editor with drag, resize, connect, keyboard shortcuts, autosave, and SVG or PNG export.

## Quick start

1. Install the documented dependencies.
2. Copy `.env.example` to `.env`.
3. Run the development command chosen during implementation.
4. Complete the acceptance checks in `BUILD_PLAN.md`.

## Honest limits

This build deliberately does not replace:
- high-fidelity import and export
- presentation and enterprise controls
- multiplayer cursors and comments
- large template libraries

If those capabilities are essential, use Excalidraw instead of pretending the gap is solved.

why people still pay

Yes: Excalidraw (Fast multiplayer whiteboards, libraries, links, exports, and workshop-friendly sketching; fewer facilitation widgets, much less account bureaucracy.)
